Can I come by train ?
Yes, we can pick you up at the train station (Les Eyzies or Sarlat) and drive you back at the end of the class. Just tell us so when filling the registration form.
I come by car. Can I park easily?
Well... though Tamnies or les Eyzies may be considered as the capital cities of Prehistory, parking is much easier than in Paris, London or Washington!
Where can I sleep ? Where can I eat ?
You can find a few addresses on this page, but we can provide you with more information, feel free to contact us
What will I learn during a class ?
Check the detailled programs page
Can I keep the tools that I have knapped during the class ?
Of course. You can take home anything you have knapped. If some of yout tools are particularly well made, they shall be marked with a diamond drill, so they can later be identified as replicas.
When I registered, I wanted to work on bifaces. Now I have changed my mind. Is is an issue?
Not at all. You can change your mind anytime and ask us to work on any kind of flint tool, before or even during the class. Everything is proposed, nothing is enforced.
I don't know ANYTHING to flintknapping. What I should I do before going to a class ?
Nothing. it is our job to teach you the basics, inluding the tools, the vocabulary and so on. But feel free to brows this site and any page dealing with flintknapping to increase your knowledge.
I am NOT manual and almost can't use a screwdriver... Can I still go to a flintknapping class ?
As long as you know how to hold and use a hammer, you have the necessary skills for a flintknapping class ! Flint is very sharp, but we have plenty of first aid kits. Wrong aims may leave bruises on your thighs, but as Bernard Ginelli says: "this is the way you learn" !
My 8-year old son is fond od Prehistory. Can he go to a flintknapping class ?
Like previously said, flint is sharp. VERY sharp. A minimum dexterity and strength is required and due to the potential danger of cutting oneself:
WE DO NOT LET YOUNG CHILDREN KNAP FLINT
Contact Bernard Ginelli
for specific information.
My son is too young to knap flint. Can he still come with me to a class as an observer ? A friend of mine would also like to come as an observer. Is it possible ?
Of course, as long as abservers are not too many. Our cavern-workshop can host a small clan... but not a hord. Renseignez-vous auprès de Bernard Ginelli
May I take pictures during the class ? May I make video records of Bernard Ginelli's work ?
Yes of course... (note of the webmaster: Bernard's left profile is the best of both).
I have booked using the form. What should I do next ?
