Axes & adzes
Iconic tools of the Neolithic, which saw the rise of polished stone, axes and adzes undoubtedly played a major role in clearing forests. Axes come in several types: whether the stone is polished or not, and whether it is fitted directly into the handle or set with an antler sleeve. While their performance naturally falls short of modern felling axes, they are nonetheless effective and will happily send wood chips flying when wielded with the necessary vigor!
