Bone tools
Appearing in the Upper Paleolithic, 35,000 years ago, these tools — sometimes of exquisite delicacy — are carved from bone or from reindeer or deer antler. Their making involves three stages: soaking, splitting off a sliver (by grooving or sawing), and then shaping.
